Virtual Gathering and Ministry

Brothers and Sisters of Christ Presbyterian Church,
     I would like to extend a big “Thank you!” to all of you who have reached out with your support, understanding, and creative ideas for ongoing virtual ministry!  As we are all adjusting to this new reality, I’m encouraged to see the love that our church has for one another and for our community.  Let me share with you a few ways we have already been able to provide for our church to maintain much of the unity and gospel-focus we have always enjoyed in this strange time:
     1)  Our Thursday evening community groups are going virtual!  While we will NOT be gathering in person this evening, we will still be able to gather around the Word and to pray for each other “face-to-face” via zoom conferencing.  You don’t need to download anything to make it work.  If you want to participate, simply click on the link that will be sent out via email (this one will be email only, not posted to the website).  PLEASE NOTE that since we won’t be able to provide kid’s activities, we are moving the time of the meeting back to 7:30 EDT to allow for families to be able to participate better.
     2)  The women’s cupcake decorating event scheduled for Friday, March 28 will also be going virtual.  All women are invited to bake along with Erin as she leads you through the recipe and the decorating.  There will likely be a few changes to the menu in order to make it work (perhaps something that requires fewer supplies to decorate), but Erin will send out the details to everyone interested.  Also, in order to make sure everyone has the ingredients and supplies necessary, she will be sending out the recipe ahead of time, and if you let her know what you need, we will have one person go to the grocery store to pick things up for everyone and deliver them, to cut down on the amount of people having to go to the store.  If you are in need of a kitchen in which to bake, let us know that also, and we can connect you to one.
     3)  There is a new section on the church’s website with links to free resources for growth and discipleship, especially curated for this time of social isolation.  You can find gospel-focussed content here: http://christgrovecity.org/links.
     I will post the link for the service we will be streaming on the church website this weekend.  I look forward to continuing to worship with you from a distance.  Let me leave you now with the words of God from Psalm 46:

     To the choirmaster. Of the Sons of Korah. According to Alamoth. A Song.

God is our refuge and strength,
  a very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way,
  though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam,

  though the mountains tremble at its swelling. Selah

There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
  the holy habitation of the Most High.
God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved;
  God will help her when morning dawns.
The nations rage, the kingdoms totter;
  he utters his voice, the earth melts.
The Lord of hosts is with us;

  the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah

Come, behold the works of the Lord,
  how he has brought desolations on the earth.
He makes wars cease to the end of the earth;
  he breaks the bow and shatters the spear;
  he burns the chariots with fire.
10 “Be still, and know that I am God.
  I will be exalted among the nations,
  I will be exalted in the earth!”
11 The Lord of hosts is with us;
  the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah
     In His hands,
     Jonathan
